Calendars and Timekeeping

DR is short for the Dale Reckoning, a major event in the history of Corona. This was the day the standing stone was erected as a symbol of peace between the Humans and the Elves 1500 years ago.

In the region that you are in, most people use a Calendar that is divided into 12 months for a 365 day year. However, many of the churches still use a Calendar based on the solstices and equinoxes, each specially named. The day is typically referenced relative to the start of the current equinox or solstice. For example, the 43rd day of the Growing Light refers to the 43rd day after the beginning of the spring equinox.

The periods are:
  • the Growing Light – marked by the Spring equinox
  • the Sune – marked by the Summer Solstice
  • the Harvest – marked by the Fall Equinox
  • the Long Night—marked by the Winter Solstice
